Abstract
A method of neutron monochromatization based on non-specular reflection of the collimated neutron beam from a magnetic non-collinear film is suggested and experimentally tested. The method is shown to be applicable in measure ments at steady-state reactors and pulsed neutron sources with a long pulse . The magnetic film in an inclined external magnetic held may serve simulta neously as a monochromator and a polarizer. Experimental and calculated res ults for this method are reported. It is shown that varying the external ma gnetic field can smoothly regulate the transmission width of the monochroma tor. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
