Terminology for compounds in the Si-Al-O-N system - (IUPAC Recommendations1999)

This document proposes a nomenclature for aluminium silicon oxide nitrides [In ceramic literature these compounds are generally called oxynitrides. Ac cording to IUPAC rules (cf. G. J. Leigh, ed. Nomenclature of Inorganic Chem istry. Blackwell Scientific Publishers, Oxford, UK (1990)) this is not allo wed; the systematic name should be oxide nitride or oxonitride].
