Tw. Dawson, Low-frequency induction in a homogeneous sphere by line sources 2. Line charge excitation and discussion, RADIO SCI, 35(3), 2000, pp. 703-712
The problem of low-frequency induction in a sphere by an external line sour
ce is amenable to analytic solution by Stevenson's method. This second of t
wo parts develops the complete electromagnetic field solution, through firs
t order in frequency, for (electric) excitation by zeroth- and first-order
line charge sources. The solutions can largely be expressed in terms of ele
mentary functions. The result serves as a useful test solution for low-freq
uency electromagnetic modeling codes involving nonuniform sources, and in p
articular for applications involving power lines. The solution is also appl
icable to a small sphere in the extreme near field of a linear antenna elem
ent.
