This work relates to the use of the ''wire on screw (CLIMAT)'' techniq
ue, as the method to study the corrosion in marine atmospheres. The te
st took place in a zone of the coast of Tarragona, in several points p
laced at different distances of the coast line, estimating the corrosi
on variation with regard to the sea distance. By means of a statistica
l analysis of the experimental results, lineal correlation functions b
etween metereologial characteristics of the atmosphere (T, RH, HDT) an
d the contamination (salinity and SO2) were obtained, in conjunction w
ith corrosion data. CLIMAT technique confirms the important role of at
mospheric salinity in the corrosion process in marine environments.
