Abstract
We introduce two space-frequency adaptive strategies for the numerical appr oximation of the solutions of quantum hydrodynamic models for semiconductor s, based respectively on wavelets and wavelet packets. The two strategies a re compared on a test case, and wavelet packets perform better in approxima ting with fewer degrees of freedom the high frequency dispersive oscillatio ns of the solution.
