Abstract
Management of open fractures can be challenging but the appropriate initial treatment can help to ensure the best possible case outcome. The first sec tion of this article discusses the emergency management of an animal with a n open fracture. The second section reviews joint luxations and how they ar e best managed on an emergency basis. This includes joint reduction when ap propriate and the recommended external coaptation to help maintain reductio n.
