Abstract
Antifungal activity of Shikon, roots of Lithospermum erythrorhizon and Arne bia euchroma was investigated in vitro. The extracts containing the pigment s of Ko-shikon or Nan-shikon showed the antifungal activities against Candi da albicans. Acetylshikonin, one of these pigments, inhibited the fungal gr owth at MIC 15.6 mu g/ml (RPMI24h) or 3.9 mu g/ml (YNB24 h).
