Abstract
Graphite flakes an excluded as a major component of interstellar grains bec
ause their ultraviolet extinction peaks occur at wavelengths longward of 27
00 Angstrom. Mie calculations for spherical graphite particles are shown to
have no physical or astronomical relevance.
