Abstract
In Alzheimer disease, therapies to improve the core symptoms and perhaps ev en slow disease progression include cholinesterase inhibitors, receptor ago nists, antiinflammatory drugs, and antioxidants. Neuroleptics, antiepilepti cs, and nondrug approaches are used to control and relieve complications su ch as delusions, hallucinations, paranoia, and agitated behavior. We outlin e a practical approach to the use of these therapies.
