The results of the kinetic studies of premicellar and micellar association
processes in aqueous solutions of a widely-used surface-active substance-so
dium decylsulfonate are presented in this work. The low-frequency spectra o
f various states: premicellar or 'precritical', 'critical' close to the cri
tical micellization concentrations (CMC) very much and in the field of the
concentrations of the substance above CMC have been studied with the method
s of modern acoustic experiment within the broad temperature and frequency
ranges (T = 30-60 degrees C and f = 60-6000 kHz). The behaviour of relaxati
on frequency has shown the possibility of critical description of the micel
lization process. The activation energy for micellization (E-a = 18.318 kJ
mol(-1)) and the constant of dissociations reaction (k = 1-2 x 10(-7) s(-1)
) have been determined. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
