Abstract
This paper describes torque production in a saturated switched reluctance m otor (SRM), The paper begins by deriving the equations for torque if the SR M is unsaturated. It then develops an operating point model for torque in a saturated SRM using the unsaturated form of the torque equation. This resu lts in a methodology which makes the control algorithms applicable to eithe r saturated or unsaturated SRM's.
