Fsm. Robert et Jp. Rao, BACTERIAL LIPOPOLYSACCHARIDE INDUCES DIARRHEA IN CECECTOMIZED MICE, Journal of diarrhoeal diseases research, 14(4), 1996, pp. 280-282
Castor oil, Lipopolysaccharide of Escherichia coli, and endotoxin of S
almonella typhimurium were used for inducing diarrhoea in sham operate
d or caecectomized mice. Copious diarrhoea was induced by lipopolysacc
haride (LPS) in caecectomized mice. Characteristics of diarrhoea induc
ed by castor oil were not different between the two groups. It is conc
luded that caecectomized mice may be a good model to study lipopolysac
charide-induced diarrhoea.
