Today, numerous groups of people enjoy free-time and there is reason to bel
ieve that this number will increase. This increasing trend in free-time is
attributable to many factors, including public policy. At the same time, so
me of the problems created by this increase in free-time are already being
addressed by public policy or are being raised by those players who wish to
see them addressed by public policy. Public policy aimed at people with fr
ee-time deal with education, culture, tourism and recreation, among others.
The specific aspects of these four areas and their relation to other aspec
ts of public policy are discussed.
