Luminescence investigations on polycarbonate irradiated with accelerated ur
anium ions are reported. The dependence of luminescence spectra on the pene
tration length, deposited energy and dose and track radius is investigated.
The luminescence spectrum has been assigned to phenyls. It is suggested th
at most phenyls are located within the latent track, The experimental resul
ts are in good agreement with data obtained by electron spin resonance spec
