Abstract
Optical and hydrodynamic properties of poly(biphenylsulfoneterephthala mide) (PPhSTPhA) (systematic IUPAC name: rephthaloylimino-2,2'-sulfony lbiphenyl-4,4'-diyl)) in sulfuric acid were investigated by means of f low birefringence and viscometry. Analysis of experimental molecular w eight dependence on the shear optical coefficient made it possible to determine optical anisotropy of a monomer segment and a monomeric unit and the rigidity of the macromolecules. It was established that the m olecules of this heterocyclic polyamide have the conformation of a kin etically rigid coil.
