Abstract
The magnetic properties of Ce2Fe17-xAlx (8 less than or equal to x less tha n or equal to 13) have been studied by susceptibility, magnetization and he at capacity. Susceptibility and heat capacity studies indicate that two mag netic ordered phases are newly found besides spin-glass phase. The Weiss te mperature turns from positive to negative for x greater than or equal to 12 . The origin of new phases may be accounted for by preferential site occupa tion of Al atoms and the competition among exchange interactions. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
