We have carried out (195)pt NMR measurement in heavy fermion pseudo-binarie
s U(Pt1-xPdx)(3) (0 < x < 0.10) in order to investigate the evolution of ma
gnetic order. At low Pd contents (x = 0 and 0.01), no internal field was ob
served at Pt site even if small-moment magnetic order was observed by neutr
on diffraction. At high Pd contents (0.02 < x < 0.08), however, a large int
ernal field of about 30 kOe was observed associated with the occurrence of
large-moment magnetic order. The zero-field NMR spectrum was very broad, wh
ich indicated existence of a broad distribution in the size of the ordered
moments. With increasing Pd concentration, the average size of U moments in
creased gradually while its distribution narrowed. (C) 2000 Elsevier Scienc
