Itinerant electron metamagnetism at low temperature is investigated in the
spin fluctuation (SF) theory considering the zero-point fluctuation. It is
shown that the zero-point SF plays an important role in the strongly exchan
ge-enhanced paramagnetism and the mass enhancement of these metamagnetic ma
terials at low temperature because of the valley structure of the electroni
c density-of-state (DOS) curve near the Fermi energy. (C) 2000 Elsevier Sci
