Abstract
To understand the incoherent optical response of La1-xSrxMnO3 in the ferrom agnetic and metallic phase near the metal-insulator transition, we examine the effects of e(g)-orbital degeneracy, Coulomb interactions, and Jahn-Tell er distortions under the perfect polarization of spins, employing the Lancz os diagonalization method. Orbital fluctuations by the Coulomb interaction induce a large and broad structure of the incoherence and suppress Drude we ight. The Jahn-Teller distortions work cooperatively to enhance this incohe rence. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
