Abstract
The effects of anisotropy (single-ion and exchange) and randomness on magne tization plateaus in one dimension are discussed. Using a phenomenological approach based on the Tomonaga-Luttinger model, we find that the phase diag ram is drastically different according to the type of plateaus. (C) 2000 El sevier Science B.V.
