Ni. Sanzharova et al., FORMS AND ACCUMULATION DYNAMICS OF CS-137 CROPS AFTER THE ACCIDENT ATTHE CHERNOBYL NUCLEAR-POWER-PLANT, Eurasian soil science, 30(2), 1997, pp. 129-134
The content of available forms of Cs-137 in the soils polluted during
the Chernobyl accident varies from 4.2 to 23.3%, depending on the soil
type. The uptake of Cs by crops dropped by 2-3 times during the perio
d of 1987-1993. Two values of the residence half-life of the Cs-137 co
ntent in grassland plants are revealed: the first constitutes 2.0-2.2
years, and the second (slower) varies from 4 to 12 years.
