Oi. Khudyakov et al., THE HYDROLOGICAL STATUS AND WATER REGIME OF THE DARK CHESTNUT SOILS OF EASTERN MONGOLIA AND THEIR CHANGES UNDER THE IMPACT OF ZOOGENIC ACTIVITY, Eurasian soil science, 30(2), 1997, pp. 152-160
Characteristic features of the water regime of the dark chestnut. soil
s of Mongolia for years with different water supply are revealed. The
hydrological status (HS) of each genetic horizon and of the whole soil
profile is described, and its seasonal dynamics is determined. It is
shown that the water content in soil horizons changes in the annual cy
cle within the range from low-available, tightly bound wafer to mobile
gravitational water. The activity of earth-moving animals favors the
formation of horizons with easily available water and contributes to t
he water supply of plants.
