A new method for the enantioselective synthesis of alpha,alpha'-disubstitut ed piperidines is described. Easily available cyclopentenones 5a,b rearrang e via Ru-catalyzed RCM-ROM to heterocycles. Compound 6a is converted to the indolizidine 13.
