A textile material is developed in such a way that it can detoxify pesticid
es on the surface as well as be breathable and biodegradable, allowing exte
nsive usage by agricultural workers throughout all climactic conditions. Th
is is accomplished through chemical detoxification of pesticides by functio
nal polymeric materials that have been recently invented.(7-9) A shirtweigh
t cotton fabric is treated to detoxify pesticides and then evaluated by gas
chromotography for effectiveness. Laundering evaluations were performed to
determine the durability of the resulting functional finish.
