Using the thermochromic shift method of absorption and fluorescence spectra
, the dipole moments in the ground, mu(g), and excited, mu(e), state are si
multaneously determined for PRODAN in ethyl acetate. The obtained values fo
r mu(g) and mu(e) are compared with those previously determined by the solv
atochromic method for two different Onsager radii, and a satisfactory agree
ment has been obtained.
