Abstract
Haemolysis after closure of an atrial septal defect with an Amplatzer devic e is a rare complication. The suggested mechanism is the association of a r esidual shunt with flow of tricuspid regurgitation, impinging on the inferi or edge of the prosthesis, factors which should be taken into consideration during the implantation of this type of device.
