Abstract
We analyzed statistically the linear correlation of the solvatochromic shif ts of the stilbazolium-like dyes in the nonselected solvents with the react ion field function, L(epsilon(r))-bL(n(2)), and the solvent polarity parame ter, E-T(N), respectively, and observed that there were not perfectly linea rity relationships between them, so we introduced E-T(N) into L(epsilon(r)) -bL(n(2)) to form a new reaction field function, L(epsilon(r))-bL(n(2)) + g E-T(N), called as the modified reaction held function, which can be perfec tly linearly correlated with the solvatochromic shifts of the stilbazolium- like dyes in the nonselected solvents.
