Nn. Nemova et al., EFFECTS OF TOXIC FACTORS ON PROTEOLYTIC A CTIVITY IN FISH EMBRYOS ANDEARLY LARVAE, Izvestia Akademii nauk SSSR. Seria biologiceskaa, (4), 1994, pp. 605-610
Changes in the activity of the main lysosomal proteases (cathepsins B
and D) in the emryos and early larvae of the salmon, trout and whitefi
sh induced by various toxicants (heavy metals, surface-active compound
s, and mixtures of toxicants) have been studied. The results obtained
suggest a complex character of the lysosomal system of proteolysis, wh
ich depends on concentration and chemical nature of the toxicant, as w
ell as on the fish species and developmental stage.
