Abstract
A new numerical approach for solving the vibration of a beam resting on an elastic foundation is proposed. The approach uses the differential quadratu re (DQ) to discretize the differential eigenvalue equation defined on each element! the transition conditions defined on the inter-element boundary of two adjacent elements and the boundary conditions of the beam. It is the d ifferential quadrature element method (DQEM) analysis model of the vibratio n of beams resting on elastic foundations. Numerical results obtained are p resented. They prove that the developed DQEM analysis model is efficient an d reliable. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
