Abstract
Extended thermodynamics of 14 moments is used for solving a boundary value problem for one-dimensional heat conduction in a rarefied gas. The minimax principle is employed to fix non-controllable boundary values and the conti nuity of the entropy flux determines the difference between the thermodynam ic temperature and the kinetic temperature.
