Abstract
Acute promyelocytic leukaemia (APL) is characterised by a life-threatening hemorrhagic diathesis which is attributed to a DIc-like coagulopathy. This report describes the problems of childbirth in two patients with untreated APL. It is concluded that caesarean section can be performed without major complications. A prerequisite is an active treatment of the coagulopathy an d a close collaboration between the obstetrician and the haematologist. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science Ireland Ltd. All rights reserved.
