Abstract
Fe-57 conversion electron Mossbauer spectroscopy has been used to investiga te the intermetallic phases near the surface of a D.C. cast aluminium ingot . The CEMS data is used with SAAES (selected area Auger electron spectrosco py) and SAXPS (selected area X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy) data to prop ose a model of the surface region above the grain boundaries.
