Instantaneous kurtosis

We introduce the concept of the instantaneous kurtosis of a signal. Using t he general approach of Cohen, we obtain an explicit expression in terms of the amplitude and phase of the signal. The idea and results are analogous t o those of the instantaneous frequency and the instantaneous bandwidth of a signal, which are low-order conditional moments of the time-varying spectr al density of the signal.
