This paper represents a new active phase array antenna for Ku-band mobile s
ervice that will be possible in satellite broadcasting service. The main id
ea for the antenna is to use minimum active array element with cost-effecti
ve one-dimensional subarrays with inclined pencil beam structure for 34 dBi
gain. For this antenna, we also used the squint beam tracking algorithm. T
his tracking gives different way to the traditional monopulse tracking meth
od in tracking capability. Electronic scanning angle of beam peak in this a
ntenna is over +/-12 degrees wide only with 20 phase shifter elements for i
ts scan ranges. This antenna with the attractive hybrid-tracking concept ha
s about 142 times less array element than antennas with two-dimensional arr
ay.
