Abstract
Microdeflection liquid crystal display modes have been investigated. Zigzag -shaped electrodes, which are patterned on each side of the substrate, face each other. Each microdomain deflects extraordinary rays in the molecular direction by using an obliquely applied electric field. The contrast ratio was 462 : 1 for parallel nicols under He-Ne laser illumination.
