Case report: A 16-month-old girl was admitted with a 6-month history of mul
tiple redish-blue plaques on the right abdomen. These proved to have increa
sed in size and number daturing a 1.5-year follow-up. Histologically (inclu
ding histochemistry and electron microscopy),these skin changes were classi
fied as tufted angioma. Tufted angioma is a ra re, often multiple benign tu
mor. Half of the tumors reported develop in children 5 years and younger. T
he exclusion of malignant tumors (leukemia, lymphoma, neuroblastoma) is imp
ortant. A punch biopsy is not very traumatic. A subsequent histological exa
mination is highly sensitive and specific. Therapy: There are a few active
therapeutic options with rather severel side effects.
