Abstract
[GRAPHICS] Reactive cyclic oxocarbenium ions, generated in situ from internal hemiketa ls, undergo Baeyer-Villiger oxidation upon exposure to m-chloroperbenzoic a cid leading, after hydrolysis of the resultant lactones, to acyclic fragmen ts for use in natural product synthesis.
