This paper is a brief summary of the most relevant features of the sol
ution to the general problem of the coupled motion of a set of resonan
t transducers and a solid sphere when acted upon by a GW excitation, a
s recently investigated by us. A remarkably elegant theory emerges our
of the analysis, which fully displays the system dynamics for arbitra
ry resonator configurations. The power of the method can be used to co
nsider alternative layouts to the TIGA proposal, the virtues and/or dr
awbacks of which can then be assessed. A specific new resonator distri
bution will be presented which takes advantage of the significant cros
s section of a spherical GW detector at its second quadrupole resonanc
e and which is also useful for eventual monopole radiation sensing.
