Corrosion and electrochemical methods were used to compare the protective p
roperties of cyclohexylamine and a new inhibitor, IFKhAN-70, under conditio
ns simulating carbon dioxide corrosion of industrial pipeline steel. The in
hibiting properties of the latter inhibitor were found to be markedly highe
r. IFKhAN-70 can passivate steel; it is effective in the presence of corros
ion products on the surface and displays an anti-corrosion aftereffect.
