Gm. Poltoratskii et al., Mean ionic activity coefficients of sulfurous acid in concentrated aqueoussolutions of sodium chloride and sulfite, RUS J AP CH, 73(1), 2000, pp. 23-29
To develop absorption procedures for the removal of sulfur dioxide from ind
ustrial gases, two water-salt systems absorbing SO2 were studied. The syste
ms involve NaCl (at 298, 323, and 348 K) and Na2SO3 (at 298 K) as main supp
orting electolytes. The logarithms of the mean ionic activity coefficients
of sulfurous acid In gamma(+/-) in the entire range of total ionic strength
s under study were obtained from the data of direct measurements for these
two systems.
