Abstract
The diffusion coefficients D for a 0.1 M NaCl solution in porous glass memb ranes were determined. The value of D was found to sharply decrease with th e pore radius r(p) of the glass at r(p) < 15 nm. This behavior was explaine d within the framework of a cylindrical-pore model under the assumption tha t a stationary near-wall layer in the pores was formed in which diffusion w as absent.
