Anomalous segments in the internal pH gradient profile in chromatographic focusing

A previously suggested ion-exchange dynamic model of formation of pH intern al gradients during chromatographic focusing is used to describe so-called anomalous segments in the gradient profile. It is shown that the initial in crease in pH may be caused by the presence of a weak base in the buffer elu ent or by a higher ionic strength of the eluent as compared with the starti ng solution.
