The isosteric characteristics for the retention of water and isopropanol on
the polyvinyltrimethylsilane (PVTMS) sorbent were calculated from data obt
ained by nonlinear gas chromatography over the temperature range 26-150 deg
rees C. The temperatures of the structural transitions in the polymer and t
he degrees of filling at which these transitions occurred were determined.
The mechanisms of the sorption of water and isopropanol were found to be de
pendent on the degree of filling and temperature.
