A series of four phenylene-thienyl based conducting polymers have been synt
hesized with push-pull funtionalities incorporated in the phenylene and thi
enyl moieties to control the solubility and emission properties. Light-emit
ting devices (LEDs) were constructed on indium tin oxide (ITO) and aluminum
substrates. The emission wavelength could be tuned by constructing devices
with mixtures of the polymers. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science S.A. All rights r
