Abstract
Catalytic synthesis of 2,6-dimethylphenol (2,6-DMP) from methanol and cyclo hexanol was achieved by using magnesium oxide-supported chromium oxide cata lysts in one step. The activity of Cr/MgO catalysts was promoted by the add ition of platinum. Both TPD method and infrared (IR) measurements were used to investigate catalysts. The promotion of Cr/MgO led to the improvement o f the stability and to the increase in the adsorption of reactants, and the refore, to the enhancement of the catalytic activity of the reaction.
