Abstract
We investigated the antinociceptic effects of cilnidipine, a dihydropyridin e derivative which acts on both L- and N-type voltage-dependent calcium cha nnels, in mice. Intrathecally injected cilnidipine showed significant analg esic effect in formalin test. Cilnidipine significantly suppressed N-type c urrents in dorsal root ganglion (DRG) cells. Our findings apparently suppor t the idea that cilnidipine attenuates synaptic neurotransmission by inhibi ting N-type calcium channels in DRG neurons. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science B.V.
