A control scheme is proposed to guarantee optimal stabilization of the angu
lar motion of a gyrostat containing fluid. The gyrostat is controlled by th
e control action which can be generated by rotating internal rotors. The op
timal control law ensuring asymptotic stability of the angular motion is ob
tained as non-linear functions of the phase coordinates. The damping step o
f the optimal stabilization of the angular motion of a gyrostat is obtained
. The existence of the fluid is shown to give more freedom to the control.
The present method is shown to be more general than the previous ones. (C)
