M. Globus et al., EFFECT OF LARGE GAMMA-IRRADIATION DOSES ON CONVERSION EFFICIENCY AND LIGHT OUTPUT OF CSI(TL) SCINTILLATORS, IEEE transactions on nuclear science, 44(3), 1997, pp. 854-856
The processes of the creation and evolution of lattice defects under s
trong gamma-irradiation are essentially simplified in the case of a la
ttice where initial defects remain unchanged under irradiation and new
defects grow due to the creation and coalescence of vacancies. Radiat
ion-induced changes in the conversion efficiency of such ''ideal'' sam
ples are described by a simple relationship which can be directly comp
ared with experiment. Based on such approach, experimental statistics
was analyzed and ''ideal'' samples were separated. As result, some inf
erences on the mechanism of irradiation-induced changes are drawn.
