J. Soderqvist et al., RADIATION HARDNESS EVALUATION OF AN ANALOG OPTICAL LINK FOR OPERATIONAT CRYOGENIC TEMPERATURES, IEEE transactions on nuclear science, 44(3), 1997, pp. 861-865
The effect of neutron radiation on light emitters and optical fibers a
t cryogenic temperatures (-184 degrees C) has been investigated as par
t of the development of an analogue optical link, intended for use at
future high energy physics experiments. The LED's were also exposed to
a gamma radiation dose of 3 Mrad. High radiance GaAs LED's, quantum-w
ell LED's, quantum-well laser diodes and optical fibers have been expo
sed to neutron radiation reaching fluences of 10(15) neutrofis/cm(2).
