Infundibulocystic basal cell carcinoma (IBCC) is a relatively recently desc
ribed variant of basal cell carcinoma that is controversial and not univers
ally accepted. Excluding cases of nevoid basal cell carcinoma syndrome, IBC
C usually presents as a small, solitary, superficial lesion on the face of
older persons. There have been previous reports of diffusely distributed, m
ultiple similar lesions, but there is disagreement about the diagnosis in t
hese cases. We present a case of a 43-year-old man with multiple papular le
sions which we believe represent IBCC in the setting of infection with the
human immunodeficiency virus (HIV).
